I am a new user, I have a big model that I have reconfigured into sub assemblies to make an construction manual. The first model seemed to upload via the Solidworks add-in but then I get an error mesage that says the model failed to load It is about 7.5Gb. Any suggestions?
Is the error when using our SolidWorks Addin, or after the project has been created?
If the total assembly size is 7.5 GB, then that is pretty huge, and I am surprised SolidWorks manages to work efficiently with something that big. I imagine you have a very powerful CAD grade machine to run SolidWorks with something that size, and its probably automatically going into large assembly or design review mode. Without seeing it, I cannot comment too much, but I would think that getting something that size online is a bit unrealistic.
Whilst our files are a fraction of the size of the original CAD data, there is still a practical limit on what can be shown reasonably on a web application, bearing in mind that projects created in Cadasio may be viewed on Mobile devices also.
Do you really need to entire model for your Cadasio project? Just like when doing certain things in SolidWorks (such as simulation and rendering), if you can simplify it, (e.g. suppress parts you never see, or fasteners that you’re not interested in), or break it down into smaller sub assemblies, it will help a lot and you may be surprised at how much you can reduce the size very quickly.
The team would be happy to take a look if you want to organise a meeting.
