Trial ( free ) user here. The tool looks promising. Need to create more professional 3d models for documentation.
Some questions before purchasing:
-
Currently the detail view is an image only. Is there plans that this can be a vector (ie better quality when enlarged?)
-
Is it possible to add 3d models of common items such as a table, an encoder, a sensor etc to a toolbox for annotating projects - or is it only Cadasio 3d parts and 2d images that can be added to a toolbox ?
-
Is it possible to set the style of parts such as bullets, lines etc as “default” ? Example: to have name and number as default metadata, in a certain font and appearance.
Hi @user15789 ,
Thanks for your questions…

We do have plans to improve the quality/resolution of detail views, though at this stage I don’t know that would be a vector. You can create your own details, not using the tool, by simply putting in an image from your steps (create a hidden step and use that for example) and often this can be a better solution. Also, since most of our customers use Cadasio to create 3D interactive documents, detail views become less relevant, as the end user can zoom/rotate how they like or you can just create a step that shows the detail.

Yes. If you are using one of our CAD addins you can put 3D objects directly into your toolbox to reuse - though often I personally would probably put them in the CAD assembly to start with (depending on what they are).

Yes. Once you add a markup to your project and style it, you can add that markup to your toolbox for reuse. I knocked up a quick video showing this…
Whilst I think the free version is limited on being able to create toolbox items, you should be able to customise labels to confirm you can get the style and content you are after.

Thank you for the response and swift creation of the video.
It would be great if user could add 3d parts from a file (STEP as minimum common format, maybe sketchup or similar? ) instead of having to go via CAD software.
For the detail view, agree - but have a look at how Canvas GFX Pro does it: detail scales freely, and can move absolute or relative within the boundary.
I checked and we do have an enhancement idea logged for a “portal” which I think is similar. We could do some pretty cool stuff with it I’m sure, however it doesn’t look like it has had many votes and has not been suggested by customers much at all in the past.
I will put another hit against it for you, as the more requests that are made for a particular enhancement the greater priority it gets.
