I’m trying to center a bolt to a hole using Position on point(I presume this is the correct way) But I cannot get it to work properly. I can “mate” with a surface (no short cut keys are used) but when using ctrl for grabbing the center it will not select this.
Is there a bug or what I’m I doing wrong?
Hi @PerLondin ,
I’m not sure if this was the the original intention (e.g. it has to be a surface to surface), or if this was overlooked when we added the ability to select edges, or its a bug thats crept in, but I can reproduce the issue. As such I have raised the issue with the team and we will look to get it resolved in a future update. For now I can only suggest using to the surfaces to get it as close as possible then using the triad.
Though if its a bolt, i would assume it came in the correct position to start with so you could use the restore position? I personally don’t need to use the position on point tool often, usually only with additional items (e.g. a hammer) and I suspect many of our users are the same, hence why its not been raised before. It would be interesting to see your workflow with this bolt.
We are a small company so only SolidWorks license and one engineer who can and knows how to use it. When I get drawings I try not to ask for too much so I manipulate drawings as best as I can.
In this case, I re-used bolts from the existing drawing to make a different setup, so I need the bolts to line up with new bolt holes.
I have in the past used Composer a lot and in that this was not an issue and comment feature to use.
